Beehiiv Launches AI Website Builder & Creator Tools - Major Update

beehiiv Announces Major Platform Expansion with AI and Real-Time Analytics

beehiiv, a leading newsletter platform, unveiled a substantial expansion of its capabilities on Thursday. This includes the introduction of real-time analytics and AI-powered website creation, alongside several other new features.

Tyler Denk, co-founder and CEO of beehiiv, highlighted the importance of ownership in the current digital landscape during a release announcement.

“The power of newsletter platforms lies in ownership – of your audience, distribution channels, brand identity, and potential revenue streams,” he stated. “In this era of artificial intelligence and evolving algorithms, ownership is not merely advantageous, but fundamentally necessary.”

The aim is to empower creators and journalists with greater control and expanded opportunities for business growth directly within the platform.

Key Features of the Product Expansion:

  • Creators can now directly sell digital products, such as e-books, without incurring any commission fees to beehiiv. Plans are in place to extend this functionality to include courses and merchandise sales in the coming year.
  • A new feature allows creators to construct websites utilizing artificial intelligence, eliminating the need for complex coding or dedicated developers. This functionality builds upon beehiiv’s acquisition of Typedream, an AI website builder, last year.

The updated product allows users to build complete websites through conversational interaction with AI – effectively “vibe coding” a website. Furthermore, users can leverage visual inputs, such as uploading images or screenshots of existing websites, for AI-driven replication.

  • The platform now supports podcast hosting and distribution, enabling creators to consolidate their podcasts, newsletters, and websites under a single beehiiv umbrella, rather than managing three separate platforms.
  • Real-time analytics are now available, providing creators with detailed insights into engagement and traffic patterns, as well as identifying the most effective channels for user acquisition.
  • A “link in bio” feature has been integrated, allowing creators to seamlessly link to various digital platforms and their beehiiv content, without relying on external link-in-bio services.
  • Professionally designed website templates are being offered to enhance the visual quality of both websites and newsletters, ensuring a consistent brand aesthetic. Newsletter templates are also available for cohesive branding.
  • Creators can now implement audience segmentation, enabling the delivery of tailored content to specific audience groups based on criteria such as location, age, or gender.
  • Automated workflows have been introduced, allowing for automated actions like sending welcome emails upon user subscription. Initial workflow features were released several weeks prior.
  • Enhanced advertiser tools simplify the process of browsing ad opportunities and estimating potential payouts. Creators can upload ad assets, set budgets, and launch campaigns directly on the platform. A new ad dashboard provides campaign performance tracking and custom report generation.
  • Paid subscriptions are available without any platform fees, making beehiiv unique in this regard. This feature includes subscription tiers and comprehensive analytics.

beehiiv positions itself as the first platform to fully integrate the entire content creation process, allowing users to “create, publish, grow, analyze, and monetize” without incurring fees, requiring coding expertise, or relinquishing equity.

Denk stated in the announcement video that beehiiv has evolved beyond a simple newsletter platform, now functioning as an operating system for the creator economy. The company aims to compete with established platforms like Lovable, WordPress, and Patreon.

Founded in 2021, beehiiv has facilitated the sending of over 35 billion emails and currently hosts more than 55,000 creators, including Oliver Darcy of Status. The company secured $33 million in Series B funding in April 2024, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and NEA.
