Google Photos New Video Editing Tools - What's New?

Google Photos Introduces Enhanced Video Editing Capabilities
On Tuesday, Google Photos unveiled a series of new features designed to streamline video editing and the creation of highlight reels. These improvements encompass specialized templates complete with pre-selected music and text, alongside a completely revamped video editor.
New Templates for Rapid Highlight Reel Creation
Currently being deployed to Android devices, the new templates empower users to quickly generate polished highlight reels. Users can select from a variety of preset music tracks and text styles to achieve a professional aesthetic in a matter of seconds.
The process is simplified: users choose a template and then curate the photos and videos they wish to include. Google Photos then automatically assembles a video synchronized to the rhythm of the chosen music.
Streamlined Highlight Reel Generation
The update also facilitates a faster and more intuitive process for creating highlight reels within the application. Highlight reels are curated collections of photos and video clips, often representing significant events like vacations or birthdays.
To begin, users navigate to the “Create” tab and select “Highlight Video.”
Redesigned Video Editor for Enhanced Usability
A newly redesigned video editor has been introduced, available on both Android and iOS platforms.
This new editor prioritizes user experience, featuring a “universal timeline” for a consolidated view of all video clips and content. An “adaptive canvas” further enhances usability by dynamically adjusting the editing interface based on user needs and project specifics.
Furthermore, the updated editor allows users to seamlessly integrate music and text directly within individual video clips.
The redesigned editor will now function as the standard video editing tool on Android devices.
Expanded Music and Customization Options
A new feature allows users to explore Google Photos’ extensive music library to find the perfect soundtrack for their highlight videos. This functionality is accessible on both Android and iOS.
Android users now also have the ability to add personalized text overlays to their highlight videos, offering greater customization through a selection of new fonts, colors, and background options.
