Delete Facebook Search History on PC - Step-by-Step Guide

Managing Your Facebook Search History
The function of saving your Facebook search history is presented as a convenience, intended to streamline future searches. However, this practice also serves as a method for data collection, potentially leading to the sale of your information to advertising entities.
While Facebook facilitates connection with friends and family, it simultaneously builds a comprehensive database of your on-site search activities. If you wish to curtail the amount of data Facebook retains about you, or simply wish to eliminate specific search entries, deleting your Facebook search history is a viable option.
Accessing Your Search History
Begin by navigating to the Facebook website and logging into your account. Proceed to your Home page. Locate and click the downward-facing arrow situated in the upper-right corner of the page, then select “Activity Log” from the presented menu.
Upon accessing the Activity Log, a series of options will appear on the left-hand side of the screen. Click “More” under the “Comments” section to expand the available list.
Within the expanded list, select “Search”.
Deleting Search Items
A chronological list of your searches will be displayed. To remove an individual search item, click the block-shaped icon positioned to the right of the entry. Then, choose “Delete” from the drop-down menu that appears.
A “Remove Search” dialog box will appear, confirming your intention to delete the selected search. Click “Remove Search” to finalize the removal process.
Clearing All Search History
To erase your entire search history at once, click the “Clear Searches” link located at the top of the page.
A confirmation dialog will be presented, noting that your search history contributes to improved search results. However, it’s important to remember that this data also aids in the collection of information about your preferences. If you prefer to limit this data collection, click “Clear Searches” to remove your complete search history.
Protecting Your Privacy
Regularly performing this procedure will help minimize the information Facebook gathers about you. Consider utilizing private browsing mode in your browser as an additional privacy measure. For Chrome users, Incognito mode can be easily launched from a shortcut.
Further resources are available regarding privacy practices; we have also previously detailed how to clear your Google search history.
