PlayStation Plus: Sony Offers 5-Day Extension After Outage

PlayStation Network Outage: Sony to Compensate Subscribers
Following a widespread disruption to the PlayStation Network, which persisted for almost a full day, Sony has announced plans to offer compensation to PlayStation Plus members.
Details of the Service Interruption
The outage began on Friday evening and continued until Saturday evening, primarily impacting users in the United States. Many players encountered issues launching their digitally purchased games or establishing connections with other players online.
Data from Downdetector indicated a peak in reported problems around Saturday midday on the East Coast. Subsequently, the number of reports decreased as the afternoon progressed into the evening.
Restoration and Official Statement
The official Ask PlayStation account on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed the network’s restoration at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday. A further update, released five hours later, verified the complete recovery of all network services from the operational issue.
“We extend our sincerest apologies for the disruption experienced and express our gratitude for the community’s understanding,” the account stated.
Compensation for PlayStation Plus Members
As a gesture of goodwill, Sony will automatically grant all PlayStation Plus subscribers an additional five days of service.
This extension will be applied to all membership tiers without requiring any action from the users.
The company hopes this will address the inconvenience caused by the recent network instability.
