Nintendo Switch Price Increase: Original Console Costs Rise

Nintendo Announces Price Adjustments for Switch Consoles
Nintendo has declared an upcoming adjustment to the retail prices of its existing Nintendo Switch gaming systems. This change, communicated on Friday, will be implemented starting August 3rd.
The company attributes these price increases to prevailing market conditions. These conditions are influencing the cost of goods and services.
Affected Products
Several products will be impacted by this pricing shift. This includes the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, the standard Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch Lite.
Furthermore, select Nintendo Switch accessories will also experience price adjustments. Certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, specific amiibo figures, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo are also included.
The exact extent of the price changes remains unspecified at this time. Currently, the original Nintendo Switch is sold for $299.99.
The OLED model is presently priced at $349.99. Consumers can expect alterations to these figures.
Potential Future Adjustments
Nintendo has indicated that further price revisions are possible. Specifically, the Nintendo Switch 2, currently retailing at $450, may also be subject to future price increases.
However, pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, both physical and digital games, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships will remain stable for now.
The company’s statement acknowledges the possibility of future adjustments as needed.
Recent Sales Figures and Tariff Implications
Nintendo recently reported its fiscal first-quarter earnings. Sales of the Switch 2 console have reached 5.82 million units since its launch on June 5th.
Previously, Nintendo strategically relocated much of its manufacturing from China to Vietnam. This move was intended to mitigate the impact of tariffs.
However, recent announcements from President Trump regarding changes to reciprocal tariffs now extend to include Vietnam. This development is likely a contributing factor to the current price adjustments.
