Khloe Kardashian Launches New Food Venture, Khloud

Khloe Kardashian has officially introduced her latest business endeavor, Khloud, with the initial offering being a protein-enriched popcorn. This product is scheduled to become available in Target stores beginning April 29th.

Initial Funding and Investors

Reports from TechCrunch in December indicated that Kardashian, alongside her mother Kris Jenner, was seeking to secure a minimum of $10 million in funding for Khloud. Jessica Bixby of K5 Global, a firm that invested in the company, confirmed that the venture ultimately garnered an “oversubscribed” funding round totaling $12 million.

The investment group includes prominent firms such as Serena Ventures, William Morris Endeavor (WME), and Shrug Capital.

Product Details: Protein Popcorn

Khloud’s popcorn is made using entirely whole-grain corn. A unique seasoning blend, termed “Khoud Dust,” consisting of milk protein and various flavorings, is applied to each batch.

This innovative addition provides consumers with seven grams of protein per serving. The product will be accessible for purchase both in Target locations and directly through the Khloud website.

Future Expansion Plans

“Our initial focus is on popcorn, but this represents only the first step,” Kardashian explained to TechCrunch. “We envision expanding into a wider range of snacking categories available throughout retail stores, recognizing the significant opportunity to innovate within the everyday snack market.”

Kardashian emphasizes that the core objective of her snack brand is to provide consumers with healthier options crafted from ingredients considered “clean.”

A New Sector for the Kardashian-Jenner Empire

The Kardashian-Jenner family is well-known for its expansive and diverse portfolio of consumer-facing businesses. However, this launch signifies the first time a member of the family has entered the snack food industry.

This move is logical, given the extensive media coverage of their dietary preferences – even a dedicated Instagram account exists showcasing their favorite foods. Where substantial consumer interest lies, opportunities for celebrity-driven revenue generation often follow.

Expanding Beyond Beauty and Lifestyle

Numerous celebrities have successfully launched product lines in areas like hair care, spirits, and cosmetics. The Kardashians have already established a strong presence in these markets.

Now, their business interests are broadening to encompass household cleaning supplies and, with Khloud, the food products found in consumers’ kitchens.
