Grand Theft Auto 6 Delayed: Latest Updates

Grand Theft Auto VI Release Date Adjusted

The highly awaited release of Grand Theft Auto VI has been postponed once more, now targeting a launch date of November 19, 2026.

Originally planned for a fall 2025 debut, the game’s release was first moved to May 2026. Rockstar Games has now communicated that the development team requires an additional six months to finalize the project.

Statement from Rockstar Games

“We extend our apologies for extending the wait, acknowledging the considerable patience already demonstrated by our community,” Rockstar Games stated. “These additional months are crucial for ensuring the game reaches the standard of refinement our players anticipate and merit.”

Successor to a Record-Breaking Title

Grand Theft Auto VI serves as the next chapter following Grand Theft Auto V, which debuted in 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V achieved a remarkable feat, as recognized by Guinness World Records, becoming the fastest entertainment product to generate $1 billion in sales. This milestone was reached within just three days of its release.

Anticipation for the upcoming installment is exceptionally high. The game’s initial trailer, released in December 2023, garnered an unprecedented number of views on YouTube within 24 hours, setting a new record – excluding music videos.

Recent Developments at Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games has not elaborated further on the reasons behind the delay.

Recent reports indicate that the company terminated the employment of 30 to 40 individuals last week. This action was reportedly taken due to allegations of sharing proprietary information on a Discord server.

Further details regarding the delay remain undisclosed at this time.
