Gardenscapes: Hidden Item Game & Giveaway!

A Relaxing Puzzle Experience: Gardenscapes

Playrix has established a reputation for creating engaging, accessible games that offer a surprising amount of depth. We previously featured their popular match-three game, Fishdom, where puzzle-solving is intertwined with aquarium building. Today, we present a similar experience with Gardenscapes.

Gardenscapes [No Longer Available] presents a distinctly different gameplay style, shifting from match-three mechanics to a hidden object format. While the concept may seem simple, this casual game proves to be remarkably enjoyable.

We are offering a giveaway of the Windows version of this hidden item puzzle game. For a chance to win one of 25 copies, valued at $19.95 each, please refer to the complete review for details on how to enter.

Availability and Pricing

Gardenscapes is available directly from Playrix for $19.95 for both PC and Mac platforms. Currently, a discounted price of $13.95 is being offered. A trial version is also available, allowing an hour of uninterrupted gameplay without any nagging prompts, providing ample opportunity to experience the game firsthand. You can download the trial here.

Gameplay and Progression

Similar to Fishdom, Gardenscapes features two core components: the puzzles and the overall game progression. Upon starting the game, players are introduced to a narrative that connects these elements. You inherit a mansion from your grandfather, complete with a once-magnificent garden that has fallen into disrepair.

The objective is to restore the garden to its former glory, requiring financial resources. This is achieved by completing levels and earning cash to purchase various garden elements.

The garden restoration serves as a persistent world where earned funds are spent on fences, flowers, and benches. Progression is largely linear, meaning players unlock restoration options sequentially by completing levels and accumulating wealth.

Hidden Object Puzzles

Each level takes place within a room of the mansion, densely populated with numerous items hidden amongst clutter. The grandfather’s butler tasks you with locating specific items, providing a list of objectives for each level.

When you first launch the game, you can select between competitive and relaxed modes. Competitive mode introduces a time limit, adding pressure to the search, while relaxed mode offers a more leisurely experience. The choice allows players to tailor the difficulty to their preference.

The level design is well-executed. Players are presented with a shortlist of items to find, but only five are visible at any given time. This prevents overwhelming the player and encourages focused searching. An anti-cheat system prevents rapid, indiscriminate clicking, temporarily disabling clicks if detected.

Discovering cleverly concealed objects and receiving rewards is incredibly satisfying. This game is suitable for players of all ages, and parents may find it to be an engaging and enjoyable experience for their children. The inclusion of minor events, like a photographer's visit, and the butler's ongoing commentary add depth and personality to the gameplay.

Additional Features and Final Thoughts

The restored garden can be set as a screensaver, complete with dynamic weather effects and ambient sounds, serving as a constant invitation to return to the game. Helpful hints are available for players who become stuck, providing assistance without giving away the solutions entirely.

Remember, you can experience the full version of Gardenscapes for up to an hour with this trial [Broken URL Removed]. Alternatively, follow the instructions in the full review for a chance to win a free copy.
