Evernote Founder's mmhmm Rebrands as Airtime, Launches New Features

Phil Libin's Airtime Aims to Revolutionize Video Meetings
Phil Libin, the founder of Evernote, is introducing a new approach to enhance video conferencing experiences. His video startup, initially launched as mmhmm in 2020 during the pandemic, has now unveiled its latest innovation: a comprehensive video toolkit for online meetings known as Airtime.
Introducing the Airtime Suite
This suite comprises two interconnected tools designed to elevate the quality of virtual interactions. A virtual camera function is included to help users present a more refined image during video calls. Additionally, a presentation tool enables both presenters and their colleagues to be visible on screen simultaneously while showcasing slides.
The company believes these tools will foster more engaging and professional online meetings. Currently, many individuals participate in meetings with informal attire, distracting backgrounds, or simply choose to disable their cameras.
Airtime Creator: A New Presentation Dynamic
Airtime Creator allows presenters to actively engage with their audience while displaying slides. The system supports the simultaneous appearance of up to ten individuals on screen, offering a collaborative presentation environment.
This product builds upon mmhmm’s original offering, effectively serving as its successor. The rebranded tool retains all functionalities of the previous version and facilitates the creation of presentations where the presenter remains the central focus.
Users gain control over customizing the visual aspects, backgrounds, and the overall content and layout of their presentations.
Airtime Camera: Personalizing Your Virtual Presence
Airtime Camera is another new product that empowers users to create unique looks for online meetings across platforms like Zoom, Teams, Meet, and Webex. It allows for background design or tinting, logo integration, and the use of visuals or GIFs for reactions.
The intention is to help users stand out in crowded virtual meetings or reinforce their personal or company brand identity.
Rebranding to Airtime
Alongside the new tools, mmhmm is officially adopting the name Airtime as its brand identity. Desktop users with the mmhmm app installed will experience an automatic update to the app name and icon upon the next launch, gaining access to both Airtime Creator and Airtime Camera.
Web users will see these changes reflected immediately. The virtual camera’s name will also be updated to “Airtime” within the settings of compatible meeting software.
Investment and Pricing
The company, previously known as mmhmm, has secured backing from investors including Sequoia Capital and SoftBank Vision Fund, having raised $100 million in funding.
Airtime Camera is currently available for free until August 1st, after which continued use will require a one-time payment of $20. Airtime Creator is offered as a subscription service at $10 per month, with a free trial period available.
