Depop Launches Fashion Collaging Tool - Style Outfits

Depop Launches New Styling Tool: “Outfits”
Depop, the fashion resale application, revealed the release of a novel styling and collaging feature on Wednesday. This tool is tailored for users who enjoy the creation of fashion collages.
The new feature, called “Outfits,” offers an interface reminiscent of a mood board. It enables users to design carefully selected outfits for sharing with their followers or for generating ideas for future looks.
How the “Outfits” Feature Works
Users can initiate the styling process by selecting an item they want to feature. A scissors icon, located on the right side of the screen, activates the customization options.
These options include the ability to incorporate a vibrant background and to modify the size and positioning of images. Pre-designed templates are also available to serve as layout guides.
All items showcased within the collages are directly shoppable. Should a particular item become unavailable, the application proactively suggests comparable alternatives, according to the company.
Benefits for Sellers and Buyers
This addition provides sellers with a valuable opportunity to emphasize currently listed items. Presenting these items in styled collages can inspire prospective buyers by demonstrating potential outfit combinations.
Users are also able to share static images of their assembled outfits on platforms like Pinterest and Instagram. This functionality is a deliberate move by Depop to resonate with its Gen Z demographic.
Following a Trend
The increasing popularity of collages among younger audiences has prompted other platforms to introduce similar features. For example, Pinterest launched its own collage application, Shuffles, in 2022.
Shuffles functionality was subsequently integrated directly into the main Pinterest application.
Availability and Performance
Depop confirms that the “Outfits” feature is now accessible to all users within the Depop app.
This announcement follows the release of parent company Etsy’s Q2 2025 earnings report. The report indicated a 34.7% year-over-year increase in Depop’s Gross Merchandise Sales (GMS) on a currency-neutral basis.
This growth trajectory positions Depop to achieve a $1 billion GMS run rate.
Comparison to Competitors
In contrast, Mercari reported a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of $728 million for the fourth quarter of 2024.
