Google AI Try-On App Doppl Adds Shoppable Discovery Feed

Google Introduces Shoppable Discovery Feed in Doppl
On Monday, Google revealed the launch of a shoppable discovery feed within Doppl, its innovative application leveraging artificial intelligence. This app is designed to visually demonstrate how various outfits could appear on an individual.
The core concept behind this new feed is to present users with tailored recommendations. This allows them to explore and virtually test new clothing items. A significant portion of the content within the feed is directly linked for purchase, connecting users to retailers.
AI-Powered Style Recommendations
The discovery feed utilizes AI to generate videos showcasing actual products. It then proposes outfit combinations based on a user’s individual style preferences.
Google establishes your style profile by analyzing the preferences you provide to Doppl and your interactions with different items within the app.
Adapting to Visual Shopping Trends
This development aligns with the growing popularity of short-form video feeds, notably on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These platforms have accustomed users to browsing visually and making purchases directly from what they see.
However, a key distinction exists. Unlike TikTok and Instagram, which rely on authentic influencers to promote products, Google’s feed exclusively features content created by AI.
Strategic E-commerce Approach
While some users may be hesitant about an AI-driven feed, Google likely views it as an effective method for presenting products in a familiar format.
Furthermore, exploring new e-commerce strategies is logical for the company, particularly as it faces increasing competition from Amazon and various social media platforms.
Enhanced Visualization with AI Videos
AI-generated videos are not entirely new to Doppl. The app already creates images of a virtual representation of the user wearing different outfits.
Now, these static images can be transformed into dynamic AI-generated videos. This provides a more realistic preview of how the outfit would look in real-world scenarios.
Availability and Rollout
The new discovery feed is currently being released to Doppl users in the U.S. who are 18 years or older, on both iOS and Android devices.
The Rise of AI-Generated Content
The idea of a feed comprised solely of AI-generated content, while unconventional a year ago, is now gaining momentum.
For instance, OpenAI launched Sora in September, a social media platform dedicated exclusively to AI-created videos. Similarly, Meta has introduced “Vibes,” a short-form video feed featuring AI-generated content within its Meta AI application.
