x Updates: New Filters, Sorting & View Your Posts

X Enhances Communities Feature with New Customization Options
X is placing increased emphasis on its Communities feature. This allows users of the platform to connect and participate in focused discussions centered around specific topics. The functionality is comparable to that found on Reddit.
New Access and Sorting Features
Currently, access to popular Communities is provided through pinned tabs at the top of the app’s homepage. These are located alongside the For You feed and Lists. Users can now personalize these timelines based on what is Trending, New, or Popular.
Furthermore, filtering options have been added to display only a user’s own posts and replies within a given Community.
Expanded Sorting Capabilities
When viewing posts sorted by popularity, users now have the ability to refine the results by timeframe. Options include day, week, month, year, or all-time. This mirrors the sorting options available on Reddit.
Previously, Communities posts could only be sorted by Trending, Most Recent, and Most Liked. This offered similar perspectives, but lacked the detailed control now available.
Personalized View and Platform Availability
A new feature allows users to quickly locate and view their own contributions – posts and replies – within a Community. This was not possible in earlier versions.
These updates are currently rolling out to users with the latest version of the iOS app, as announced by an X engineer.
The company is actively working to extend this new functionality to the web and Android platforms.
Broader Revamp of Communities
This product update represents the latest step in X’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the Communities feature. The goal is to make X more attractive to users seeking more focused and in-depth discussions.
Last month, X integrated Community posts more deeply across the platform. A user’s posts and replies within Communities are now visible to their followers and other X users.
To encourage wider adoption, X also enabled anyone to reply to a Community post.
Potential Benefits for AI Development
X Communities are not solely intended to attract new users to the platform. They also present a potential benefit for the company’s AI initiatives.
The topical discussion boards within Communities could provide valuable data for companies seeking to train their AI models. This data could also be used to train models at xAI, the AI company owned by Elon Musk.
