Welcome New Team Members!

TechCrunch Team Expansion Announced
Several valuable additions to the TechCrunch team are being announced today.
Firstly, Kirsten Korosec, a team member for over two years, has been promoted to the position of Transportation Editor. Her contributions have been instrumental in strengthening our coverage within the transportation sector.
Kirsten’s work has also been key to the success of our Mobility events. She will continue to pursue exclusive stories and is now tasked with onboarding new voices to contribute to transportation coverage.
New Editorial Roles
Jon Shieber will be assuming the role of Climate Editor. His focus will be on the startups, funding initiatives, and innovations within renewables, environmental technology, and sustainable businesses.
Further details regarding Jon’s new role will be shared shortly.
Welcoming New Writers
We are pleased to introduce several new contract writers who will be augmenting our team of reporters covering the startup landscape:
- Tage Kene-Okafor, reporting from Lagos, will focus on the startup activity in Western Africa. He previously worked at TechPoint Africa, covering startups and venture capital.
- Mary Ann Azevedo will be covering startups and investment trends. She joins us from FinLedger, where she led the launch of the fintech-focused publication. Prior to that, she collaborated with Alex Wilhelm at Crunchbase News.
- Sophie Burkholder will provide coverage of startups spanning health, biotech, and enterprise sectors.
In addition to these new hires, we welcome several other contributors to our writing team.
Mark Harris, already known for delivering impactful scoops, will continue to contribute. Leigh Cuen will specialize in crypto coverage, and Marcella McCarthy will report on the Miami startup ecosystem, as well as contribute to Extra Crunch.
Expanding Support and Community
Kathleen Hamrick is rejoining TechCrunch to support Startup Battlefield and Extra Crunch initiatives. Her decade of experience in technical writing, research, and project management will be vital in integrating early-stage startups into the TechCrunch network.
Drew Olanoff returns to lead our community-building efforts, a project we are very enthusiastic about. He will be instrumental in identifying and engaging with the global TechCrunch community.
Drew will also strengthen the connection between Extra Crunch and TechCrunch, as well as our live events, such as Disrupt, where our content truly comes to life.
This year promises to be significant for TechCrunch, and we are thrilled to have these individuals join our team. Please extend a warm welcome when you have the opportunity.
