Video Window Remote: Connect Remote Workers to the Office

Bridging the Distance in Hybrid Workplaces
With an increasing number of organizations adopting hybrid work models – blending in-office and remote arrangements – maintaining a sense of connection for at-home employees can be challenging, despite the prevalence of video conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
Video Window offers a solution designed to foster a feeling of presence and connectedness, simulating the experience of physically being in the office. The company has recently launched Video Window Remote, a companion application for both iOS and Android devices, specifically targeted towards remote workers.
Expanding Connectivity Beyond the Office Walls
This latest iteration of the Video Window system extends beyond simple intra-office communication. It aims to integrate employees working remotely, whether from home or alternative locations, into the daily office environment.
While video conferencing facilitates virtual meetings and task-related discussions, it often lacks the spontaneous interaction and sense of belonging that comes with physical presence. This absence can contribute to feelings of isolation or the perception that contributions are overlooked.
Recreating the Water Cooler Experience
Video Window Remote allows users to download the application onto their smartphones or tablets, establishing a live visual and auditory link to the office environment. This aims to replicate the casual interactions and sense of community often experienced around a traditional water cooler.
Many remote employees report missing these informal exchanges, which contribute significantly to team cohesion and morale.
Inspired by Personal Experience
Daryl Hutchings, CEO of the company, explains that the features of Video Window Remote were largely informed by his own experiences working remotely during the pandemic.
“Video Window replicates the sensation of looking through a window to observe your coworkers,” Hutchings stated. “It allows for genuine presence with colleagues, supporting project completion and goal achievement, ultimately enhancing work satisfaction and creating a more equitable hybrid workplace.”
Prioritizing Security and Privacy
Addressing potential concerns regarding security and privacy, Hutchings emphasizes the inclusion of several protective measures within the application.
- Guest access is restricted.
- Audio and video are disabled by default, granting users control over when they are visible and audible.
- All users can view who is currently present, regardless of their audio or video status.
- A scheduled sleep mode ensures the service operates only during designated hours.
Availability
The Video Window Remote tool is available for free download, starting today, from the iOS and Android app stores.
