Ukrainian Hackers Claim Destruction of Russian Drone Maker's Servers

Hacktivist Group BO Team Claims Breach of Russian Drone Maker Gaskar Group
The Ukrainian hacktivist collective known as BO Team has asserted responsibility for a successful intrusion into the network belonging to Gaskar Group, a Russian manufacturer of drones.
According to a statement released on their Telegram channel, BO Team executed this cyberattack in collaboration with the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance and Ukraine’s military intelligence services.
Details of the Cyberattack
A translated version of the announcement indicates that the combined forces undertook substantial efforts to gain control of Gaskar Group’s complete network and server infrastructure.
This involved the acquisition of sensitive data pertaining to both current and future unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) projects.
Following data collection, the groups proceeded to destroy information and render the infrastructure inoperable.
Extent of the Damage
BO Team reports the destruction of over 250 systems during the course of the cyberattack.
This included 46 virtual servers and in excess of 200 workstations.
Furthermore, the hacktivists claim to have eradicated 47 terabytes of the company’s primary data, along with an additional 10 terabytes of backup files.
The breach also allegedly resulted in the theft of personal information belonging to Gaskar Group employees, encompassing home addresses and details about their families.
Significance of the Attack
Drones have been heavily utilized by both Ukrainian and Russian forces since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022.
Gaskar Group is known to be a supplier of drones to the Russian military.
Response from Gaskar Group
As of the latest reports, Gaskar Group has not yet issued a response to a request for comment submitted via their official Telegram channel.
The incident highlights the ongoing cyber warfare dimension of the conflict.
Ukraine continues to leverage cyber operations as a key component of its defense strategy.
