Uber Eats to Use Starship Robots for Food Delivery in the UK

Uber Eats Expands Delivery Options with Starship Technologies
Uber Eats is collaborating with Starship Technologies, a firm specializing in sidewalk delivery robots, to initiate food delivery services within the United Kingdom later this year.
This new service will initially launch in the Leeds and Sheffield regions in December, focusing on deliveries “from select merchants.” Further expansion is planned, with Uber anticipating a rollout to “additional European markets in 2026.”
Expanding Autonomous Delivery Network
The partnership with Starship represents a continuing trend for Uber, which has been actively forging alliances with a diverse range of autonomous vehicle companies. It’s worth noting that Starship isn’t the first to provide sidewalk robots for Uber Eats.
Uber’s food delivery division has already been utilizing robots from Serve Robotics in the United States for several years. Additionally, the company began employing sidewalk robots developed by Avride earlier in the current year.
Starship's Global Robot Fleet
Starship Technologies reports operating a fleet of almost 3,000 six-wheeled delivery robots globally. These robots are currently deployed across over 270 different locations.
Typically, these robots complete deliveries within a timeframe of under 30 minutes, covering distances of no more than two miles. This provides a swift and efficient delivery solution.
The company focuses on hyperlocal delivery, aiming to provide a convenient service for customers and merchants alike.
