Twitter's "Flock" Feature: Sharing with Select Friends

Twitter is actively developing a new functionality that allows users to share tweets with a specifically chosen group of friends. This feature, initially revealed in July of the previous year, aims to provide a more intimate sharing experience.

The platform had previously indicated its intention to allow users to identify "trusted friends" to whom certain tweets would be exclusively visible.

Feature Details and Current Development

Recent discoveries by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, through reverse engineering, confirm the feature is currently under development. Twitter is presently referring to it as “Flock.”

However, the final name may differ upon broader release. According to a statement given to The Verge, “Flock” is currently functioning as a temporary designation.

How "Flock" Will Function

The current design allows users to add a maximum of 150 individuals to their "Flock" list.

Only members of this designated group will be able to view and interact with tweets specifically addressed to them.

Tweets sent to your Flock will include a notification informing other users that visibility is restricted to the group due to their inclusion on your list.

Group Management

Users will have the ability to modify their Flock list at any time.

Twitter has confirmed that removing someone from the Flock will not trigger a notification to that individual.

This ensures privacy and control over who has access to your more personal updates.
