Twitter Now Allows Space Recordings for All Users

Twitter has implemented a new functionality, making recordings of Spaces accessible to all users across iOS, Android, and the web. This update aligns Twitter’s audio feature more closely with conventional podcasting platforms.

Users are now able to experience conversations even after the initial live broadcast concludes.

Recording Capabilities Expanded

This development follows Clubhouse’s introduction of a Replay feature, which enables users to record and subsequently share live room sessions.

Furthermore, Twitter is granting recording privileges to a wider range of Space hosts on both iOS and Android devices.

Initially, this capability was limited to a select group of hosts on iOS following the initial launch of recorded Spaces in October.

How to Record a Space

Hosts initiating a live audio room will follow the standard procedure of assigning a title and selecting relevant tags – up to three – to categorize the discussion.

Before commencing the live session by tapping “Start a Space,” they can activate the new “Record Space” setting.

Indications of an Active Recording

Participants within a Twitter Space that is currently being recorded will observe a “Rec” button, distinguished by a red dot, prominently displayed at the top of the interface.

This visual cue serves as clear notification that the session is being documented.

Sharing Recorded Spaces

Upon concluding the Space, hosts will tap the “End” button, triggering a confirmation prompt regarding both the session’s termination and the recording’s stoppage.

The finalized recording can then be disseminated across Twitter’s network, allowing for on-demand playback and potential re-sharing by listeners.

Recent Enhancements to Twitter Spaces

Twitter has consistently focused on developing and improving its Spaces feature in recent months.

A recent rollout enabled users to generate direct links to their Spaces, facilitating access for individuals without a Twitter account via the web.

Expanding Reach and Accessibility

Twitter explained that this functionality is designed to accommodate users who wish to share Spaces with contacts who are not currently on the platform.

These latest expansions broaden the accessibility of Spaces and enhance Twitter’s potential to attract new users.
