Twitter Spark: Audio Creator Program for Spaces Launched

Twitter Enhances Commitment to Spaces with New Creator Program

Twitter is significantly increasing its investment in Spaces, the audio room feature introduced earlier this year, which mirrors platforms like Clubhouse.

Introducing the Spark Program

On Tuesday, the company unveiled a new initiative designed to support Spaces creators. The Spark program is a three-month accelerator intended to “identify and financially, technically, and strategically support exceptional Spaces experiences on Twitter.”

Twitter is welcoming applications from both established audio shows and innovative, untested concepts, encouraging all audio creators to participate.

Expanding Spaces Functionality

Since its initial release, Twitter has indicated that Spaces is intended to be a long-term product, not merely a temporary experiment.

Last month saw the expansion of ticketed Spaces, enabling hosts to generate revenue by charging for access to their audio conversations.

This week, a new feature was implemented allowing hosts to directly invite listeners via Direct Message when initiating a Space.

Furthermore, a dedicated Spaces tab has been rolled out to a wider audience of iOS users, with plans for future expansion to include additional languages and the Android platform.

Program Details and Benefits

Participants accepted into the Spark program will be required to host audio rooms twice weekly throughout the three-month duration.

They will receive a monthly stipend of $2,500 – a fixed amount independent of Space performance – and be granted monthly advertising credits to promote their shows.

In addition, program members will benefit from promotional support from Twitter’s official accounts through tweets and featured placements.

Twitter’s Vision for Social Audio

“We acknowledge the considerable effort involved in producing audio content that is captivating, engaging, and fosters audience loyalty,” stated Twitter in the Spark program announcement.

“We firmly believe in the power of innovative ideas and the potential of live social audio, and we are committed to empowering audio content creators – such as yourselves – to achieve success.”

Application Information

Twitter users interested in developing a bi-weekly audio project with Twitter’s backing can submit their applications by October 22.

Successful applicants will be notified in early November.
