Ticketed Spaces Expand to Android Users on Twitter

Twitter has revealed that its Ticketed Spaces feature is becoming available to Android users within the U.S. in the coming days.

This update allows hosts utilizing Twitter’s live audio room functionality, Spaces, to monetize access by selling tickets.

Initial Rollout and Eligibility

The introduction of Ticketed Spaces on Android follows its initial release for iOS users in late August.

Applications for access were first accepted in June, with criteria including being over 18 years of age, having hosted a minimum of three Spaces within the past 30 days, and possessing at least 1,000 followers on the platform.

Twitter is actively soliciting Android users to submit applications and share their experiences with the new functionality.

Supporting Creators and Monetization

The company emphasizes that this feature is designed to provide financial support to creators, recognizing the time and effort invested in hosting and moderating public discussions.

Ticketed Spaces can be leveraged for a variety of events, including workshops, interactive conversations, and exclusive meet-and-greets with their audience.

Previously, Twitter announced it will retain a 3% commission on creators’ revenue generated through Ticketed Spaces.

Accessing Ticketed Spaces

When a Space is designated as Ticketed, users will encounter a purchase option displaying the price established by the host.

Alternatively, users can receive a direct invitation to purchase a ticket from existing participants through a Direct Message containing a dedicated link.

Competitive Advantage

The implementation of Ticketed Spaces serves to distinguish Twitter from competitors like Clubhouse and Instagram.

Currently, neither of these platforms offers a comparable advance ticket sales capability.
