Five years following its initial release, Twitter Moments is expanding its presence outside of the primary Twitter platform.

Twitter announced on Monday a collaboration with Dailyhunt to introduce Moments to the Indian social media landscape. The Dailyhunt application now features a specific section, labeled “Twitter Moments India,” designed to present carefully selected tweets related to current news and significant happenings within the world’s second-largest internet user base.

This collaboration provides Twitter with an opportunity to broaden its influence in India, where data from App Annie (shared with TechCrunch by an industry source) indicates it had under 75 million monthly active users last month. Dailyhunt, which recently secured $100 million in funding from investors including Google, Microsoft, and AlphaWave, reports a daily reach exceeding 285 million users.

In contrast to Twitter, Dailyhunt enjoys considerable popularity in smaller cities and towns throughout India. The Indian social application, which provides content in 14 different languages, described its partnership with Twitter as its most substantial collaboration yet. The financial specifics of this agreement were not revealed by either company.

“Our team at Twitter is dedicated to ensuring individuals can stay informed about global conversations as they unfold. Moments – collections of tweets focused on a specific subject – are an effective means of achieving this. We are excited to bring Twitter Moments to the Dailyhunt app through this partnership, as Dailyhunt serves a wide range of languages and readers across India,” stated Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director of Twitter India, in an official announcement. (Twitter also holds an investment in ShareChat, an Indian social app that operates as a competitor to Dailyhunt.)

Umang Bedi, a co-founder of Dailyhunt and previously the leader of Facebook India, commented, “The events of the last year have demonstrated the significance of public opinion and awareness, and we recognize our responsibility to facilitate this dialogue by making information more accessible, trustworthy, and captivating. We are confident in our progress when a respected partner, sharing our commitment to empowering users to freely create and exchange information, acknowledges the value of our platform.”
