Fountain Life Raises $18M - Tony Robbins & Peter Diamandis Longevity Venture

A Pivotal Conference and the Birth of Fountain Life

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. William Kapp’s career trajectory was significantly altered eight years ago during attendance at a transformative medical conference.

Previously practicing independently and subsequently co-founding a company specializing in critical care hospital construction – a venture he later sold – Dr. Kapp developed a keen interest in the intersection of medicine and business, as he explained to TechCrunch.

Inspired by Cutting-Edge Research

The annual conference, hosted by renowned physician-scientist Dr. Daniel Kraft, focused on emerging technologies designed to enhance patient outcomes while simultaneously reducing healthcare expenses.

During that year’s event, Dr. Peter Diamandis, founder and chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, shared the stage with stem-cell pioneer Dr. Bob Hariri, co-founder of genomics firm Human Longevity.

Their discussion centered on groundbreaking fields like genomics and microbiomics, representing advancements beyond conventional medical practices.

From Longevity Performance Center to Fountain Life

Motivated by these insights, Dr. Kapp established the Longevity Performance Center in his hometown of Naples, Florida.

The initial goal was to focus on early disease detection and subsequent health optimization, he stated.

In March 2020, Dr. Diamandis and Tony Robbins visited the center, having recently launched a stem cell startup, Fountain Therapeutics.

Discussions quickly progressed towards a potential merger, culminating in the formation of Fountain Life by October of the same year.

Leadership and Investment

Dr. Kapp assumed the role of CEO, with both Dr. Diamandis and Tony Robbins serving as co-founders and board members.

The board now also includes Dr. Hariri as an advisor, Todd Wanek, CEO of Ashley Furniture Industries, as an investor, and B.K. Modi, a prominent Indian business leader, also as an investor.

Series B Funding and Expansion

Fountain Life has secured $18 million in Series B funding, led by EOS Ventures, with participation from existing board members, according to an exclusive report to TechCrunch.

Previously, the company raised $80 million in Series A funding, bringing the total funding to approximately $108 million, as reported by Dr. Kapp.

The Science of Longevity and Preventative Care

A Nascent Field of Study

The medical community’s dedicated study of longevity is a relatively new endeavor.

When Dr. Kapp initially launched his center, the precise definition of “longevity” remained unclear, but significant research has emerged in the past four to five years.

He emphasizes the foundational principle of longevity: “avoiding preventable causes of death.”

Comprehensive Screening and Optimization

Fountain Life’s centers prioritize preventative screening, identifying illnesses and chronic conditions in their earliest, often asymptomatic stages.

Data is collected through blood tests and body scans, analyzing over 100 biomarkers, including liver fat and “microbiome concentrations.”

The second core principle involves optimization, utilizing scientifically validated treatments to improve these biomarkers.

The third principle centers on employing the latest regenerative therapies, currently undergoing FDA trials, for both treatment and optimization.

Early Detection and Targeted Interventions

Screening may reveal conditions like small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), which, if left untreated, could potentially contribute to certain cancers.

Early intervention involves restoring microbiome balance through prescribed microbiotics.

tony robbins and peter diamandis’ longevity company fountain life raises $18mAI-Powered Tracking and Personalized Insights

Members receive testing every quarter, with results tracked and analyzed through an AI-powered app called Zori, facilitating patient engagement and informed decision-making.

Cost and Accessibility

A full Fountain Life subscription costs $21,500 annually, encompassing a comprehensive suite of tests and physician access, but excluding extensive medical care.

A testing-only package, including AI analysis, is available for $10,500, without ongoing testing or medical support.

Real-World Impact and Success Stories

Dr. Kapp recounts two instances demonstrating the value of their approach.

A member, whose wife purchased a subscription, was diagnosed with early-stage kidney cancer through testing and is now cancer-free.

Sam Nazarian, a global hotelier, discovered a brain aneurysm during Fountain testing, which was successfully treated.

Future Expansion and Affordability

The new funding will facilitate the opening of additional centers.

Current locations include Naples, Orlando, Dallas, and Westchester, New York, with a Houston center opening in December.

Plans are underway for centers in Los Angeles and Miami by the second quarter of 2026.

Dr. Kapp aims to address affordability by developing a “clinic development” program, training medical facilities in Fountain’s methodologies, thereby increasing accessibility and reducing costs.

Competition in the Longevity Testing Market

Fountain Life is not alone in the doctor-driven longevity testing space.

Function Health, led by Mark Hyman, offers a package of approximately 160 blood tests, with follow-up tests every three to six months, for a $500 annual membership (with additional fees for extra tests).

Function Health’s platform also analyzes and tracks results, but does not include physician access.

They have recently acquired Ezra, a body-scan company, offering scans for an additional fee starting at $499.

Correction: Fountain has clarified the price of the annual subscription and that information has been updated. Function has clarified that its body scan technology is available for additional fees and that information has been updated.
