Kabir Narang Leaves B Capital to Launch New Investment Platform

Kabir Narang Departs B Capital to Launch New Investment Platform

Kabir Narang, a founding general partner at B Capital and an early investor in numerous Indian startups, has concluded his tenure with the global venture firm. This information has been both learned by TechCrunch and officially confirmed by the company itself.

New Venture Focused on Technology and AI

Preparations are underway for Narang to establish a novel investment platform, anticipated to launch in 2026. This platform will concentrate on opportunities arising from the convergence of technology, artificial intelligence, and international capital movements, as detailed in a communication shared with founders and reviewed by TechCrunch.

Leadership Role at B Capital

Since joining B Capital in March 2017, Narang played a key role in shaping the firm’s Asia strategy, operating from Singapore. He also served as the chair of its global investment committee.

During his time with the firm, he provided crucial backing to prominent Indian startups including Meesho, Khatabook, CredAvenue, Bounce, and Bizongo.

The Future of Investing

Narang articulated his perspective on the current technological landscape, stating, “We are experiencing a profoundly transformative technological revolution, coupled with a significant test of investment prudence.”

He further explained that AI’s ability to self-scale accelerates the process from concept to realization. Founders who effectively combine this speed with robust pricing strategies and improving unit economics will be instrumental in creating the next wave of lasting value.

Continued Involvement in Early-Stage Investments

In addition to developing the new investment platform, Narang has informed founders that he will be taking minority ownership stakes – ranging from 1% to 2% – in companies he identifies as having the potential for “intelligent compounding.” This indicates his intention to remain engaged in early-stage investing while simultaneously building a larger investment vehicle.

B Capital’s Response and Future Plans

B Capital has acknowledged Narang’s departure to TechCrunch. Eduardo Saverin, Karan Mohla, and Howard Morgan will assume responsibility for managing the firm’s Asia portfolio, working alongside the existing team in South and Southeast Asia.

A B Capital spokesperson stated, “After more than eight years with the firm, Kabir Narang, who concentrated on later-stage growth investments in Asia, has left to pursue other endeavors.” The firm expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him success in his future pursuits.

About B Capital

Established in 2015 by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and former Bain Capital executive Raj Ganguly, B Capital is a multi-stage investor with a focus on technology, healthcare, and resilience tech.

Headquartered in San Francisco, the firm oversees more than $9 billion in assets across nine offices located in the U.S. and Asia. B Capital also leverages a partnership with Boston Consulting Group to offer strategic and operational support to its portfolio companies.

Narang’s Prior Experience

Prior to his role at B Capital, Narang dedicated nearly nine years to Eight Roads Ventures India, backed by Fidelity, where he served as a managing director.

B Capital’s Commitment to Asia

The B Capital spokesperson reiterated the firm’s ongoing commitment to its Asia strategy and its global platform. They expressed confidence in their leadership and experienced team throughout the region to capitalize on emerging innovations and continue supporting groundbreaking companies in their core markets.
