Tinder and Spotify Partner for New Music Mode Feature

Tinder and Spotify Enhance Connection with Music Mode
Tinder is introducing a new feature called “Music Mode” through a partnership with Spotify. This allows users to preview a 30-second loop of a potential match’s selected song directly on their profile.
Activating Music Mode and the Anthem
To utilize Music Mode, users must link their Spotify accounts to Tinder. They then select a song to serve as their “Anthem,” which is displayed on their profile.
This isn’t the first collaboration between the two platforms; Tinder and Spotify initially partnered in 2016 to introduce the Anthem feature, enabling users to showcase their musical preferences.
Global Rollout and Feature Location
The Music Mode feature is scheduled for a global release to all Tinder users in regions where Spotify is accessible. Users will find the feature within Tinder’s “Explore” section.
Tinder emphasizes that this integration leverages the inherent connection between music and forming relationships, providing a new avenue for users to bond over shared musical tastes.
The Power of Shared Musical Taste
According to Kyle Miller, Vice President of Product Innovation at Tinder, “Now with Music Mode, our members can experience that feeling when you’re at a party and you find out someone else loves the same songs you do.”
He further stated that songs hold significant personal meaning, and Music Mode aims to facilitate new connections through the medium of music.
Anthems and Match Rates
Data indicates that approximately 40% of Tinder users within Generation Z have already incorporated Anthems into their profiles. Those who do experience a nearly 10% increase in matches.
Expanding the Tinder Experience
This launch is part of a broader effort by Tinder to introduce features that encourage new forms of user engagement. The updated “Explore” section, for instance, includes event listings and interest-based matching.
It also provides opportunities for initiating conversations with potential matches before a formal connection is established.
New Features: Plus One, Swipe Night, and More
Recently, Tinder launched the “Plus One” feature, allowing users to indicate their interest in finding a date for events like weddings or offering themselves as a date.
The popular “Swipe Night” interactive event has also been reintroduced, this time featuring a murder mystery theme, and is accessible through the Explore section.
Explore Section Features
The Explore section also hosts “Hot Takes,” a real-time chat experience akin to speed dating, and “Passions,” which connects users with shared interests. These features aim to diversify the ways individuals interact on the platform.
- Music Mode: Hear a preview of a match’s chosen song.
- Anthem: Select a song to represent your musical taste.
- Explore: Discover events, interests, and new ways to connect.
- Plus One: Find a date for events.
- Swipe Night: Interactive in-app event.
- Hot Takes: Real-time chat experience.
- Passions: Connect with users sharing similar interests.
