TikTok on Desktop, Web & Consoles: Video Kit Now Available

TikTok Expands Video Kit to Web, Desktop, and Consoles
TikTok has announced an expansion of its Video Kit, extending its availability to developers creating applications for web platforms, desktop computers, and gaming consoles. Previously, the kit was exclusively available for mobile app development.
New Integrations Announced
Alongside this expansion, TikTok revealed a series of new third-party applications that will now integrate with the platform. These include Clipchamp, Combo, Grabyo, Kapwing, Mobcrush, and LG U+.
What is Video Kit?
Video Kit provides a solution, notably the “Share to TikTok” feature, enabling third-party applications and tools to seamlessly integrate with TikTok. This allows users to directly upload video files to TikTok from within their preferred editing environment.
Initially launched in 2019, “Share to TikTok” was the inaugural feature within the TikTok for Developers program. This program has since grown, incorporating additional tools such as Login Kit and Sound Kit.
Current Applications Utilizing Share to TikTok
Currently, the “Share to TikTok” functionality is integrated into several popular tools. These include Adobe Premiere Rush, Picsart, Enlight Videoleap, and Momento GIF Maker, among others.
These applications are frequently utilized by professional content creators who require more sophisticated editing capabilities than those offered natively within the TikTok application itself.
Broadening Reach to Professional Creators and Businesses
By extending Video Kit to desktop and web-based tools, TikTok aims to reach a wider audience of professional creators, as well as brands and businesses.
For instance, Clipchamp was recently acquired by Microsoft to integrate its video creation and editing software into Microsoft’s suite of productivity applications. Microsoft views video as a modern form of documentation, essential for tasks like pitching ideas and team communication.
Platform Capabilities of New Integrations
Combo’s platform streamlines content repurposing for creators, potentially allowing streaming platforms to transform highlights into TikTok videos.
Grabyo provides a cloud-based video production platform, equipping broadcasters and media publishers with tools for producing, editing, and distributing live and real-time video content across various platforms.
Tools for Gamers and Collaborative Teams
Mobcrush, owned by Super League Gaming, offers tools specifically designed for gamers and livestreamers.
Kapwing’s video editor includes collaborative features for creative teams, while U2 (from LG U+) will integrate the functionality later this year, facilitating team-based video storyboard creation.
