AI Basketball Robot: Rebounding Made Easy

The Path to Basketball Mastery: A New Training Partner
Achieving the skill level of players like Steph Curry or Sabrina Ionescu necessitates dedicated practice. Consistent effort, even under challenging conditions – be it extreme temperatures, fatigue, or illness – is paramount.
However, securing a consistent one-on-one practice partner can prove difficult. Fortunately, a solution may soon be available for purchase, with an anticipated price point of $1,000.
Introducing the Datic 1 Robot
Davy Robot’s Datic 1 garnered significant interest at CES 2025 this week. Exhibition attendees eagerly waited for the opportunity to test its capabilities on the show floor.
This innovative robot is positioned beneath a basketball hoop, automatically rebounding the ball after each shot attempt.
Technical Specifications and Functionality
The Datic 1 is designed to be (comparatively) portable, weighing approximately 33 pounds. It is wheeled into position under a hoop, and its arms extend upwards, deploying a netting system.
While the demonstration hoop at CES 2025 was set at a non-regulation height, the final production model will feature an adjustable extension, reaching the standard 10-foot height.
Utilizing machine vision and artificial intelligence, the robot accurately tracks the shooter’s movements. Its head dynamically swivels to efficiently retrieve and return the basketball.
Availability and Launch Details
Davy Robot is currently aiming for a June launch on Kickstarter.
