Distraction-Free Freewrite with Hemingway Design

A New Edition of the Distraction-Free Freewrite is Released
In a previous assessment last year, we described the Freewrite Traveler as “remarkable, though costly.” The newest iteration of Astrohaus’ focused word processing device doesn’t significantly alter the price point. Indeed, the Ernest Hemingway Freewrite Signature Edition is priced $300 higher than the previous model.
However, this latest version aims to be more than simply a functional writing instrument. Astrohaus has officially obtained permission from the Ernest Hemingway estate for this new edition, building upon the original “Hemingwrite” concept launched through a 2014 Kickstarter campaign.
Inspired by a Literary Legacy
The device is designed to embody aspects of the style and spirit of the author of “The Sun Also Rises.” According to co-founder and CEO Adam Leeb, “Although the name was changed to Freewrite in 2015, it was the original Hemingwrite concept that initially garnered global attention.” This time, the company has secured official endorsement from the Hemingway family.
The new model prioritizes aesthetics over portability, featuring an included carrying case reminiscent of vintage writing equipment and classic record players from brands like Crosley. While travel typewriters also came with cases, the Freewrite’s slimmer form factor results in a more compact package.
Hardware Specifications
Astrohaus describes the hardware’s features, best envisioned with a voice similar to Ron Burgundy’s.
For those seeking a device to minimize distractions from laptops and enhance the aesthetic appeal of a classic writing experience, the Ernest Hemingway Freewrite Signature Edition is currently available for purchase at a price of $899.
