tesla to begin production on 7-seat model y in november, with deliveries in early december

Elon Musk recently provided new details regarding the expected release timeframe for the seven-passenger configuration of the Model Y, Tesla’s comparatively accessible electric sport utility vehicle. Customer deliveries of the Model Y commenced in the United States during March of this year; however, Musk indicated in June that the company planned to begin distributing the seven-seat models during the final three months of the year.
The addition of a seven-seat option will increase the vehicle’s overall passenger capacity by two individuals. The capability for this configuration has been known since the vehicle’s initial presentation in 2019. This version will incorporate a third row of seating, although the precise design remains to be fully revealed. While the larger Model X includes a third row, the Model Y presents a more constrained space for implementation. Tesla also previously showcased a seven-seat design for the Model S Plaid variant last year.
The availability of additional seating represents a significant benefit for those seeking a high-end, yet more affordable SUV capable of accommodating larger families—particularly those with smaller children. Assuming production adheres to Musk’s projected schedule, the seven-passenger Model Y should be available for purchase in the near future. While his estimated timelines have often proven ambitious, the Model Y’s initial deliveries actually occurred ahead of schedule, suggesting these dates may be accurate.
