Tesla Free Supercharging: Model S Offer Details

Tesla Reintroduces Free Supercharging for Select Model S Vehicles
Tesla is implementing a strategy to stimulate Model S sales before the conclusion of the current year, employing a somewhat unconventional approach.
Having previously discontinued its lifetime free Supercharging benefit in 2018, the company is now reinstating it for certain Tesla Model S automobiles as the year draws to a close.
Price Adjustments and Eligibility
This offer, however, is accompanied by a price increase of $5,000 for the Model S. The all-wheel-drive variant of the vehicle now has a starting price of $79,990, while the Plaid model begins at $94,990.
The reinstated free Supercharging is valid for the duration of vehicle ownership and is non-transferable. Commercial drivers, including those involved in taxi, ride-hailing, or delivery services, are ineligible for this promotion.
Declining Demand for the Model S
Over recent years, the demand for this higher-priced electric vehicle has experienced a consistent decline.
While Tesla does not publicly disclose specific delivery figures for the Model S, estimates from Electrek suggest approximately 12,000 to 13,000 Model S EVs were sold in the second quarter.
This represents a decrease of roughly 31-37% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Electrek further estimates that sales of the Model S and Model X combined reached around 10,000 units in the third quarter, marking an all-time low.
- Vehicle: Tesla Model S and Plaid
- Price (AWD): $79,990
- Price (Plaid): $94,990
- Supercharging: Free for life (with conditions)
The reintroduction of free Supercharging appears to be a targeted effort to counteract this downward trend in sales and incentivize potential buyers.
