Amit Yoran, Cybersecurity Leader, Dies After Cancer Battle
Amit Yoran, a veteran entrepreneur and prominent figure in the cybersecurity industry, has died following a period of illness. He passed away on Friday after battling cancer.
The news was shared by Tenable, the cybersecurity firm where Yoran served as both CEO and chairman, through an official press release.
A Distinguished Career
Prior to his leadership at Tenable, beginning in 2016, Yoran accumulated extensive experience in the field. He previously held key positions such as president of RSA, the initial CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.
His career demonstrated a consistent commitment to advancing cybersecurity technologies and strategies.
Tenable Remembers Yoran
Art Coviello, Tenable’s lead independent director, conveyed the company’s deep sorrow in a statement. He characterized Yoran as “an extraordinary leader, colleague, and friend.”
Coviello further emphasized Yoran’s impact, stating, “His passion for cybersecurity, his strategic vision, and his ability to inspire those around him have shaped Tenable’s culture and mission.”
Yoran’s influence is expected to remain a guiding force for the company in the future.
Leadership Transition
Tenable announced that Yoran began a medical leave of absence on December 5th. During this time, Steve Vintz, the CFO, and Mark Thurmond, the COO, assumed the responsibilities of co-CEOs.
Vintz and Thurmond will continue to serve in these roles as Tenable undertakes a search to identify a permanent successor for the CEO position.
The company is dedicated to ensuring a smooth continuation of its operations and strategic direction.
