Storetasker Revamps Shopify Developer Marketplace - Find Top Experts

Storetasker functions as an online platform designed to link Shopify store owners with skilled developers and other professionals who can assist in expanding their businesses.

The platform is currently under the ownership of the company formerly known as Lorem. Charlie Fogarty, Co-founder and COO, clarified that while Lorem initially aimed to connect small businesses with a wider range of developers, “We discovered that the Shopify and e-commerce sector represented our most successful customer base… therefore, we completed the acquisition of our primary competitor, Storetasker, and integrated the two companies” operating under the Storetasker brand.

This acquisition, encompassing the Storetasker product and its network of experts – but not the original team – occurred last year. Fogarty stated, “We have dedicated the past ten months to a complete overhaul of the product. This involved incorporating years of accumulated knowledge into a rebranding effort, a new product offering, and an improved overall customer journey.”

The fundamental concept remains consistent. A Shopify merchant can access Storetasker, outline their project requirements in straightforward language, and within a short timeframe, Storetasker will identify and connect them with a suitable expert from its network for direct collaboration.

Over 30,000 Shopify brands have already utilized Storetasker, including Boll & Branch, Chubbies, Aisle, Alpha Industries, Truff Hot Sauce and Branch Furniture. Fogarty indicated that the typical project cost is around $300 and generally involves the implementation of custom designs and specialized functionalities within a Shopify store.

He further noted that other platforms “require users to evaluate unverified professionals… placing the responsibility of recruitment on the brand itself.”

Furthermore, he pointed out that businesses can leverage Storetasker for assistance beyond just development – they also utilize it to find specialists in areas like conversion optimization and “various other facets of e-commerce.”

Alongside the launch of the updated product, Storetasker announced that it secured $3.2 million in Series A funding last year from Flybridge, Founder Collective and FJ Labs.

Looking forward, Fogarty believes there is significant potential for growth while maintaining a focus on the Shopify environment. Considering that the platform hosts over 1 million stores and has facilitated $200 billion in total sales to date, this outlook appears promising.
