Spotify Adds New Podcasts for Artists and Creators

Spotify Broadens its Podcast Portfolio with Two New Shows
In the previous year, Spotify integrated podcasts into its overall communication strategy. This began with the launch of “Spotify: For the Record,” a podcast offering behind-the-scenes perspectives. It featured interviews with Spotify executives, personnel, and industry leaders discussing music, technology, and the podcasting landscape.
Today, the company is building upon this in-house podcasting initiative. They are introducing two further communication-focused podcasts. These will specifically target distinct sectors, including creators, the entertainment industry, consumer trends, lifestyle enthusiasts, and the business and finance community.
Introducing “Spotify: Discover This”
The new programs will be rolled out during October. The first, “Spotify: Discover This,” is scheduled to debut on October 14. This podcast will deliver insights into “music, podcasting, cultural moments, and trends.” It will feature a blend of musical selections, interviews with artists, and other unexpected content.
As a preview, the inaugural episode will explore the development of country music and highlight up-and-coming artists.
“Spotify: Mic Check” – A Focus on Creators
The second new program, “Spotify: Mic Check,” will launch on October 19. Its primary focus will be on creators within the audio space.
Spotify has actively engaged with the podcast creator community. This engagement includes acquisitions of podcast-related businesses, encompassing studios and creation tools such as Anchor. The company has also been dedicated to enhancing creator monetization through new advertising products, paid subscription options, engagement features, and integrations. These integrations allow creators to connect their existing subscriber bases to the Spotify platform.
Furthermore, Spotify launched Spotify Greenroom, a social audio application designed to host live content.
“Mic Check” will further solidify Spotify’s commitment to creators. It will present a series of conversations with both musicians and podcasters. The show will feature exclusive recordings and personal narratives from a diverse group of global creators, available solely on Spotify.
“For the Record” Returns for a Third Season
The company is also reviving its flagship podcast, “For the Record,” for a third season, beginning on October 26. This show will continue to provide Spotify’s perspective on product and financial news, including earnings reports, product releases, and other business updates.
This season, “For the Record” will become a primary source for breaking news. Certain business updates will be exclusively shared through this podcast.
Dustee Jenkins, Spotify’s head of Global Communications, stated, “Spotify has consistently possessed a distinctive story and a desire to communicate it independently.” She added, “The launch of ‘Spotify: For the Record’ last year marked a significant step in establishing our broader audio communication channels. We are now pleased to announce the expansion with two additional shows, enabling us to connect with each of Spotify’s audiences more directly – addressing the topics that matter most to them.”
