spotify adds a built-in podcast playlist creation tool, ‘your episodes’

Spotify has introduced a new functionality intended to provide podcast enthusiasts with a streamlined method for organizing and preserving content for future listening or readily accessing preferred episodes. This capability, known as “Your Episodes,” enables users to bookmark specific episodes from any podcast, subsequently adding them to a dedicated “Your Episodes” playlist.
According to Spotify, this playlist will be prominently displayed at the top of Your Library, within both the Music Playlist and Podcast Episodes sections.
This addition proves particularly beneficial when encountering a podcast you don’t regularly follow but features content of interest – such as an interview with a well-known figure, or a conversation centered around a subject you find compelling. It also offers a convenient way to evaluate a new podcast by adding a few episodes to a playlist and assessing its overall appeal.
As an illustration, if Spotify suggests a podcast aligned with your listening preferences, you can navigate to the show’s page and assemble a personalized playlist consisting of the most intriguing episodes.
Furthermore, this new bookmarking tool allows listeners to archive their favorite episodes for repeated enjoyment whenever they choose.
Adding an episode to the playlist is accomplished by simply selecting the plus icon (“+”) on the episode card or within the episode’s description. Spotify confirms the playlist can accommodate up to 10,000 episodes, which will be stored until manually deleted.
Spotify has previously experimented with podcast playlists. Last year, the platform enabled users to incorporate podcasts into their existing playlists and introduced a combined music-and-podcast playlist tailored for commuters, called “Your Daily Drive.” Earlier this year, Spotify also launched a collection of professionally curated podcast playlists to facilitate content discovery.
However, this new save feature simplifies playlist creation for podcasts, allowing users to quickly add content to a pre-existing playlist with a single tap, rather than the more complex process of building a custom playlist.
Spotify states that this new feature is being released today on both iOS and Android platforms, and is available to both free and Premium users in all regions where podcasts are supported.
