Sora Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Final Fighter Reveal

The Final Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Revealed
During the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, anticipation was high among fans regarding the identity of the final character for “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.” However, the announcement centered around Chris Pratt’s casting as Mario in an upcoming film.
Sora Joins the Roster
Today, Masahiro Sakurai, the game director, unveiled in Nintendo’s concluding “Mr. Sakurai Presents” livestream that Sora from the “Kingdom Hearts” series will be the last fighter added to “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”
The “Kingdom Hearts” franchise, which debuted in 2002, uniquely blends characters from Disney and Pixar properties. Sora, the central protagonist, is known for wielding a keyblade.
A distinctive feature of Sora’s keyblade is a small chain adorned with a Mickey Mouse logo. The inclusion of this iconic symbol alongside established characters like Mario and Pikachu may strike some as unexpected.
Content Included with Sora
Sora’s arrival introduces nine new songs to the game. Players will also gain access to a new stage: Hollow Bastion, a castle originating from the “Kingdom Hearts” universe.
With this addition, the total number of playable characters in the critically acclaimed game reaches 82. The game initially launched for the Nintendo Switch in December 2018.
Fan Demand and Accessibility
Sakurai revealed that Sora was the most frequently requested character when a fan ballot was conducted six years ago for “Super Smash Bros.” on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
He further stated that Sora is designed to be a more accessible character, making him well-suited for players new to the game.
Availability and Cost
Sora will be available starting October 18th. Players can access him by purchasing the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 expansion, priced at $29.99.
Alternatively, individual expansion characters can be purchased separately for $5.99. Other characters included in this expansion are Steve/Alex (“Minecraft”), Sephiroth (“Final Fantasy 7”), Pyra/Mythra (“Xenoblade Chronicles 2”), Kazuya Mishima (“Tekken”), and Min Min (“Arms”).
Kingdom Hearts Remastered for Switch
Sakurai also announced that remastered versions of “Kingdom Hearts” games, originally released on other platforms, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
These include “Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix,” “Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue,” and “Kingdom Hearts III.” A specific release date for these titles has not yet been confirmed.
