Sony Airpeak: Sony Enters the Drone Market

Sony revealed its intention to participate in the drone industry through a newly established brand, Airpeak. Details regarding the drone’s features remain limited at this time, with a planned launch scheduled for next spring.
The initial announcement indicates that Sony’s decision to enter this market was motivated by the increasing prevalence of drones and the resulting transformations within both professional and artistic fields.
Airpeak is designed to serve a variety of industries. However, it faces a significant challenge in competing with DJI, the leading provider of drones for individual consumers.
Sony explains that the drone’s development is taking place within the area of artificial intelligence and robotics. This, combined with the goal of expanding drone applications to previously inaccessible areas, implies that Sony intends to incorporate substantial intelligent functionality into its drone systems.
Unmanned aerial vehicles have become increasingly sophisticated, now possessing the ability to circumvent obstructions, identify other airborne objects, and maneuver through urban environments with minimal human control. Nevertheless, many of these advanced features are still largely conceptual and not yet broadly implemented.
Currently, information about Sony’s new venture is limited to the brand name, the overall concept, and an image that likely depicts the drone’s rotor design. Further information will be published on the official website as it becomes available.
