New Skype Version: Facebook Video Calling Now Available

Skype Enhances Facebook Integration with New Windows Update
Skype has recently reinforced its connection with Facebook, releasing a new version for Windows, specifically Skype 5.8. A corresponding update for Mac users is also anticipated shortly.
Key Features of the Update
This latest iteration incorporates a number of significant changes designed to improve user experience and connectivity.
- Full HD video-calling capabilities have been added.
- Support for Facebook audio and video-calling is now available in beta.
- Users can now utilize group screen sharing functionality.
- The option to hide offline Facebook contacts is included.
- A convenient Push to Talk feature has been implemented.
- The Skype updater service has been refined.
- Integration with the Bing Bar is now present.
Prior to this release, Skype already offered integration with Facebook, enabling users to chat with contacts and view status updates directly within the Skype interface.
The newest version expands on this by introducing audio and video calls with Facebook friends, even if those friends do not have Skype installed.
To utilize this feature, simply connect your Skype account to Facebook through the designated Facebook tab, select a friend, and initiate a video call. Your friend will be able to answer and converse with you directly from within Facebook.
Alongside the Facebook integration, the update also delivers enhancements such as Push to Talk, Full HD video-calling (dependent on camera and connection quality), and Bing Bar integration.
Currently, the update may not automatically appear for all users. Skype’s update mechanism might incorrectly indicate that you are already running the latest version (as experienced with version 5.5).
However, the latest version can be downloaded directly and users are encouraged to share their feedback with Skype.
