Singularity 6 Secures Additional Funding for Upcoming Game Launch

Singularity 6, a game development studio located in Los Angeles, has successfully obtained further investment as it expands its operations and prepares for the release of its first game.

Series B Funding Details

The company announced to TechCrunch that it has secured $30 million in a Series B funding round. This round was spearheaded by FunPlus Ventures, with contributions from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), LVP, Transcend, Anthos Capital, and Mitch Lasky.

To date, Singularity 6 has raised a total of $49 million in funding. This represents a significant investment, reflecting the growing interest from investors in gaming platforms following Roblox’s successful initial public offering.

Previous Funding Round

In 2019, the studio completed a $16.5 million Series A funding round, which was also led by Andreessen Horowitz. Details regarding their debut title were initially withheld at that time.

Introducing Palia: A Community Simulation Game

The studio’s first title, Palia, is a community simulation game. It emphasizes social interaction and collaborative gameplay, drawing inspiration from titles like Animal Crossing, but within a massively multiplayer online (MMO) framework.

Last month, a launch trailer was released, providing a glimpse into the gameplay mechanics. Palia features a medieval-inspired open world environment reminiscent of Zelda, where players can travel between towns, cultivate resources, and construct buildings together.

Focus on Community and Belonging

The company’s marketing emphasizes the game’s intention to foster community, build friendships, and create a strong sense of belonging among players.

Jonathan Lai, a partner at a16z, described the upcoming title as “warm and dynamic” in a recent statement.
