seedcamp raises £78m for its fifth fund

Seedcamp, a European venture capital firm focusing on early-stage investments, has successfully completed the initial and final closing of its fifth fund, Seedcamp V, securing £78 million – the largest fund in the firm’s history.

This investment round attracted support from a diverse group of investors, including British Patient Capital, Legal & General, TIFF, LGT, Vintage IP, Isomer Capital, and OMERS. Further backing came from venture capital firms such as Index, Sequoia, Underscore VC, Northzone, Atomico, and Draper Esprit. Notable angel investors participating in the round include Taavet Hinrikus (TransferWise), Daniel Dines (UiPath), David Helgason (Nordic Makers/Unity), and Shakil Khan (Spotify).

The launch of this new fund occurs three years after the closing of Fund IV, which totaled £60 million. Seedcamp V will enable the firm to increase its investment in companies at the pre-seed and seed stages, while also allocating resources for subsequent funding rounds extending up to Series B.

Seedcamp’s investment portfolio includes Hopin, a virtual events platform that experienced significant growth during the pandemic and recently achieved a $2 billion valuation following a $125 million funding round.
