Scroll Window Under Mouse - Windows 7/XP/Vista

Improving Mouse Wheel Scrolling in Windows
Many users have observed a behavior where a window must be actively selected before the mouse wheel can be used for scrolling. This can be particularly disruptive when multitasking or engaging with extended online guides within a browser.
A reader named Kevin brought to our attention a helpful tool called KatMouse, designed to address this issue. It allows the mouse wheel to scroll the window directly under the cursor.
A Minor Configuration Adjustment
There is a single, easily rectified drawback to KatMouse: it defaults to minimizing the current window when the middle mouse button is clicked. This action interferes with the standard middle-click functionality in browsers like Firefox.
Fortunately, this behavior can be disabled through the application’s settings. Navigate to the "Wheel Button" tab within the KatMouse configuration panel.
From the drop-down menu, select "None of the buttons," or any option other than "Wheel button." This will restore the original function of the middle mouse button.
Once this small change is implemented, the utility functions optimally.
Additional Customization
Further personalization is possible. The application icon can be removed from the system tray via the "General" tab in the settings.
You can download KatMouse to enhance your scrolling experience.
