Scout Motors to Integrate Satellite Connectivity in Upcoming EVs
Scout Motors, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, is proactively announcing features ahead of CES 2025. This news is particularly relevant for drivers intending to utilize the company’s electric vehicles in remote, off-road environments.
The upcoming Traveler SUV and Terra pickup models will be equipped with integrated satellite connectivity as a standard feature.
Details on the Satellite Linkup
Currently, Scout Motors has not disclosed the supplier of the satellite hardware or the specific service provider. The company states that the vehicles will be factory-prepared with the necessary pre-wiring.
This integrated hotspot is designed to provide extensive coverage, ensuring connectivity for both drivers and passengers both inside and near their vehicle.
Recent Vehicle Unveiling and Future Plans
Scout Motors recently debuted its initial vehicle lineup in October. However, the Traveler and Terra are not scheduled for release until 2027.
Consequently, a complete disclosure of all specifications is not yet available. Further details may be revealed during CES next week, where the vehicles will be showcased.
“Community UX” User Interface
At CES, Scout Motors will also demonstrate its new “Community UX” user interface.
This interface will be powered by software originating from a collaborative venture between Rivian and Volkswagen, as previously highlighted at TechCrunch Disrupt.
The software platform is intended to enhance the overall user experience and connectivity features within the Scout vehicles.
