CES 2024: Samsung Remains a Key Exhibitor Amidst Cancellations

Despite a growing number of prominent exhibitors withdrawing from next year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung has confirmed its participation in next week’s event. The company consistently utilizes CES to demonstrate its extensive portfolio of electronic products.

Samsung’s offerings span a wide range, encompassing everything from televisions and home appliances to innovative robotics.

The Rising Importance of Samsung’s C-Lab

In recent years, Samsung’s C-Lab division has become a significant highlight of the company’s CES presence. This internal incubator showcases projects developed by Samsung employees.

C-Lab allows personnel to pursue independent projects, often resulting in intriguing, though not always immediately practical, innovations.

C-Lab’s Project Categories

This year, C-Lab projects are categorized into three distinct stages: C-Lab Inside, C-Lab Outside, and ventures that have already become independent entities.

The 'Inside' category represents the initial phase of development and features several promising concepts.

  • Piloto: An AI-driven smartphone application focused on enhancing user device habits.
  • PROBA: A service designed to assist with examinations.
  • Innovision: A system engineered to identify eye misalignment in infants.
  • ZamStar: A guitar equipped with integrated LED guides to facilitate learning.

The 'Outside' program, established in 2018, functions as an accelerator, providing support to emerging startups within South Korea.

C-Lab’s Growth and Impact

Currently, the C-Lab Outside program supports nine companies. Samsung reports that, since its inception in 2012, C-Lab has collaborated with 406 companies.

The company anticipates reaching a milestone of 500 participating companies sometime in the coming year, demonstrating its commitment to fostering innovation.
