Salesforce Announces New Mulesoft RPA Tool | ServiceTrace Acquisition

Salesforce Integrates Servicetrace with MuleSoft to Enhance Automation Capabilities

Following last month’s acquisition of the German RPA provider Servicetrace, Salesforce has revealed plans to integrate it with MuleSoft, a company previously acquired in 2018 for $6.5 billion. This synergy aims to bolster automation capabilities for customers.

Bridging the Gap Between Modern and Legacy Systems

MuleSoft specializes in creating APIs for connecting to older systems. Servicetrace, conversely, offers a means of introducing automation to these same legacy environments. The resulting integration will be known as MuleSoft RPA.

The acquisition of Servicetrace was finalized on September 2nd, and Salesforce is swiftly implementing its capabilities throughout the organization. A key focus is the integration with MuleSoft.

Expanding Integration Tooling with RPA

John Kucera, SVP of product management at Salesforce, explains that MuleSoft already possesses robust API management and integration tools. However, the addition of RPA will introduce a new dimension to these existing functionalities.

“Our customers frequently require automation and integration with systems that are not connected, including PDFs, spreadsheets, and particularly legacy systems lacking events or APIs,” Kucera stated. “We aim to support our customers wherever they are, providing a comprehensive solution for automating these processes.”

Packaging and Availability of MuleSoft RPA

ServiceTrace will be offered as an integral component of MuleSoft, alongside other Salesforce integration tools and platform features.

The MuleSoft RPA tool will be positioned under the Einstein Automate umbrella. Importantly, it will also be available as a standalone service, allowing customers to benefit from its capabilities even without utilizing other MuleSoft or Salesforce products. Einstein represents Salesforce’s suite of artificial intelligence features.

Extending Access to On-Premise Data

The initial acquisition of MuleSoft was strategically intended to provide Salesforce, a predominantly cloud-based company, with access to on-premise, legacy enterprise systems. This allowed customers to access data regardless of its location.

Integrating RPA further expands this access, enabling companies to establish connections to these systems within their modern Einstein Automate workflows – systems that were previously inaccessible.

Addressing the Complexity of Hybrid IT Environments

Many large organizations operate with a combination of modern and older systems. Providing a method to link these disparate environments and implement company-wide automation could prove highly valuable, assuming the integration performs as anticipated.

Dreamforce Announcement and Future Availability

These new capabilities are being unveiled at Dreamforce, Salesforce’s annual customer conference. Like many announcements made at the event, this one primarily serves to inform customers about upcoming features.

General availability of MuleSoft RPA is not anticipated until sometime in the first half of next year.
