Google Chrome New Tab Page: Restoring the Classic View

A recent Google Chrome update introduced a redesigned new tab page. This change has proven unpopular with a significant number of users.

Fortunately, reverting to the previous, apps-focused new tab page is achievable. Vishal Gupta, of the Tweaking with Vishal blog, has detailed a straightforward method for doing so.

Re-enabling the Classic New Tab Page

The process involves a minor configuration adjustment and a browser restart. Begin by entering chrome://flags into your Chrome address bar and pressing Enter.

Within the flags menu, locate the entry labeled "Enable Instant Extended API." From the associated drop-down menu, select "Disable."

Following this change, a Chrome restart is necessary. Upon relaunching the browser, the familiar apps-based new tab page will be restored.

This method effectively brings back the previous functionality.

We extend our gratitude to Vishal for providing this quick and effective solution to the new tab page issue!
