Reddit Appoints Pali Bhat as Chief Product Officer

Reddit has announced the appointment of Pali Bhat to the newly created position of Chief Product Officer. Bhat formerly served as the Vice President of Product and Design at Google Cloud.

Responsibilities and Reporting Structure

In this role, Bhat will be responsible for the oversight of Reddit’s entire product organization. He will spearhead the development of new tools and features designed to enhance the platform’s functionality.

Bhat will directly report to Steve Huffman, the current CEO of Reddit. His primary focus will be on fostering a sense of “community and belonging” among Reddit’s users through innovative product initiatives.

Extensive Experience

Bhat possesses more than 15 years of experience in product leadership. This includes guiding teams and developing products within both developer platforms and consumer-facing services, notably including prominent offerings from Google.

Before joining Reddit, Bhat dedicated over a decade to Google, culminating in leadership of a substantial team – nearly 1,000 individuals – comprising engineers, product managers, UX designers, and researchers.

His previous responsibilities at Google also included serving as the Vice President of Product Management, with global oversight of Google’s payment products. Prior to his tenure at Google, Bhat held leadership roles at both SAP Labs and McKinsey & Co.

Statements from Bhat and Huffman

“I’ve long admired Reddit and am energized to build on the work the team does to help millions of people around the world,” Bhat stated. “This position allows me to integrate my enthusiasm for community, creators, and technology platforms, and contribute to Reddit’s continued growth.”

Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit, commented, “Pali shares our dedication to cultivating community and belonging.” He further added, “As a key member of our leadership, he will advance our efforts to provide innovative avenues for user contribution and encourage genuine human interaction.”
