TechCrunch initially reported in October that PopSockets was creating a range of products designed to work with the MagSafe system, leveraging the wireless charging features of iPhone 12 models. Today, at the (virtual) 2021 Consumer Electronics Show, the company officially unveiled these forthcoming products for the first time. The new collection features three PopGrips compatible with MagSafe, a wallet incorporating a grip, and two different mounting options.

First is the new PopGrip for MagSafe, which will connect magnetically to MagSafe-enabled cases designed for iPhone 12 devices.

The design of this PopGrip resolves any questions regarding how a traditional PopGrip (the familiar round, expandable accessory) will function with a MagSafe device. Rather than attaching solely at the base of the grip, the grip is built into a larger base designed to connect to the case.

This grip is also designed to work with PopSockets PopMount 2 phone mounts, including the newly introduced PopMount 2 for MagSafe.

The PopMount 2 for MagSafe will be available in two versions: PopMount for MagSafe Multi-Surface and PopMount for MagSafe Car Vent. As their names suggest, both products will magnetically attach to iPhone 12 devices for use at home or while traveling.

Users of the new PopGrip for MagSafe will be able to keep the grip attached to their device and then allow the mount’s magnets to connect to the base.

The wallet includes an elastic band for easy card removal without detaching the wallet from the device, and now incorporates a shield to safeguard credit cards from magnetic interference. The grip on this model is also interchangeable.

The PopGrip Slide Stretch features expanding arms that mechanically attach to the sides of most phone cases, including those for the iPhone 12. This grip can be slid to the bottom of the phone to function as a portrait stand or to accommodate MagSafe accessories, without requiring removal.

The PopGrip for MagSafe and PopWallet+ for MagSafe will be among the first of these new accessories to become available, launching in spring 2021.

The PopGrip Slide Stretch will launch on March 21 on PopSockets.com and in select Target stores, with a wider release to follow. The PopGrip Slide will launch on May 1 on PopSockets.com and in Apple Stores. The PopMount for MagSafe line will become available in summer 2021.

The company also announced several other products not utilizing MagSafe technology, including the PopGrip Pocketable, which streamlines the grip when collapsed for a flatter profile; the PopGrip Antimicrobial, featuring a silver-based treatment for protection; and the PopSockets x SOG PopGrip Multi-Tool, a collaboration with SOG Speciality Knives, which integrates a PopGrip with a detachable multi-tool.

The company has not specified a precise release timeframe for these products beyond “early 2021.”
