Pin Websites to Start Screen in Windows 8

Pinning Websites to the Windows 8 Metro Start Screen
Adding applications and folders to the Metro Start screen in Windows 8 is a straightforward process. But what about frequently visited websites? Windows 7 offered the ability to pin websites to the Taskbar. Similarly, pinning your preferred websites to the Windows 8 Metro Start screen is easily accomplished.
Accessing the Pin to Start Feature
Begin by launching Internet Explorer 10 from the Metro Start screen. Then, navigate to the specific website you wish to pin for quick access.
After the webpage has fully loaded, locate and click the Pin to Start button. This button is situated on the right side of the toolbar at the bottom of the browser window.
Customizing the Tile
The webpage’s current title will be automatically suggested as the tile’s name. You have the option to modify this title to something more descriptive or concise. Once satisfied, click the Pin to Start button to finalize the process.
Organizing Pinned Websites
A new tile representing the website will be added to the right side of your Metro Start screen. This tile can be repositioned to any desired location on the Start screen by simply dragging it.
For enhanced organization, especially when pinning multiple websites, consider grouping them together and assigning a descriptive label to the group.
Removing Pinned Websites
To remove a website tile from the Metro Start screen, right-click on the tile itself. Then, select the Unpin from Start option, which appears on the left side of the bar displayed at the screen’s bottom.
Choosing Your IE Version
Selecting a pinned website tile will open the site within the Metro-style version of Internet Explorer 10. However, if you prefer to use the Desktop version of IE10, you can configure the pinned tiles to launch websites in that environment instead.
