Pebble Time 2: Specs and Details of the Revived Smartwatch

Pebble Time 2: New Designs Revealed
Eric Migicovsky, the original creator of the Pebble smartwatch, unveiled the updated designs for the forthcoming watch, now officially named the Pebble Time 2, on Wednesday.
Trademark Reclaimed
Initially, the company had designated its new timepieces as the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 upon announcing its return to the market in March. However, Migicovsky stated that they have successfully reacquired the Pebble trademark.
Consequently, the new watches will be marketed as the Pebble 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2.
Design and Features
Core Devices, Migicovsky’s company, previously showcased initial concepts for the watches in March. Today, the finalized design of the Pebble Time 2 is being presented.
The watch’s industrial design has undergone modifications, and several new features have been incorporated, as highlighted by Migicovsky in a blog post.
The Time 2 will launch in four color options, which are still to be decided. Pebble customers will be invited to provide input on the final color selection.
Enhanced Capabilities
Furthermore, the company is integrating a multicolor RGB LED backlight, a second microphone for potential environmental noise cancellation, a compass sensor, and a screw-mounted back cover.
The watch casing, including the front and back, will be constructed from stainless steel, mirroring the design of the older Pebble Time Steel, and will also feature stainless steel buttons.
Key Specifications
Previously announced specifications will remain consistent. These include a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper display, a touchscreen interface, a quick-release 22mm watch strap, a flat hardened glass lens, and an estimated 30-day battery life.
Additional features include a heart rate monitor, step and sleep tracking, a speaker, a linear actuator motor for haptic feedback, and a yet-to-be-specified waterproof rating.
Availability and Pre-orders
The Pebble Time 2 is currently available for pre-order at a price of $225. It will connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth, enabling notification display, music control, and internet connectivity.
Upgrade Options
Customers who have already pre-ordered the Core 2 Duo will have the opportunity to upgrade to the Pebble Time 2 while maintaining their position in the queue.
They should refrain from canceling their original order and instead await an email survey link, expected to be distributed within the next month, which will provide the upgrade option.
