parler reportedly removed posts by trump affiliate lin wood calling for execution of vp mike pence

Even the social network Parler, which positions itself as a champion of “free speech,” appears to have boundaries regarding acceptable content.
The platform, which has gained popularity among numerous conservative voices due to its stated dedication to unrestricted expression, has removed multiple posts originating from Lin Wood, a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, as reported by Mediaite.
Specifically, one of the posts taken down from the social media site contained a call for the execution of Vice President Mike Pence.
In a communication with Mediaite, Parler’s CEO John Matze verified that the service had indeed taken measures against Wood’s contributions to the platform.
“Indeed, certain of his posts that breached our established guidelines were removed,” Matze explained to Mediaite. “This includes the specific instances you’ve mentioned.”
This action by Parler is noteworthy as it represents one of the initial cases of a well-known conservative personality having their content removed from the service.
Despite its image as a social platform prioritizing free speech, Parler does maintain certain regulations concerning the content shared on its platform.
As Mediaite pointed out, Wood’s posts likely contravened a clause within the company’s terms of service which stipulates that “reported posts, comments, or messages transmitted through our service will be considered a violation of these Guidelines if they include: explicit or implied encouragement of violence, or unlawful activity, where: (a) the user intends their statement to incite violence or unlawful action, and (b) the immediate use of violence or unlawful action is a probable outcome of the post, comment, or message.”
Wood, whose Parler account is still functioning, experienced a suspension of his Twitter account on Thursday, as previously reported by Forbes.
Concurrently, the calls for Pence’s execution appear to have motivated at least some of the individuals who breached the Capitol building on Wednesday. Jim Bourg, Reuters Photo News Editor, shared on Twitter that he overheard at least three separate rioters expressing a desire to “locate Vice President Mike Pence and execute him by hanging him from a tree on Capitol Hill for treason.”
