Parler Officially Offline: AWS Suspension Confirmed

As promised, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has ceased providing services to Parler, the social network favored by conservative users, some of whom promoted unrest at the U.S. Capitol and in other locations. The suspension of services began immediately following a 24-hour notice issued by AWS, resulting in visitors to Parler’s website now encountering an error message indicating the domain is inaccessible.
Parler experienced a rapid increase in users following the definitive banning of Donald Trump’s accounts from Twitter and Facebook the previous week, alongside the removal of numerous other accounts expressing comparable hostile rhetoric and advocating violence in line with Trump’s views. Following this, both Apple and Google removed Parler from their app stores due to breaches of their respective service agreements, and AWS has now implemented its own suspension.
The platform has indicated an intention to reconstruct its entire technical foundation independently to address these suspensions. However, in the interim, alternative social media platforms with a similar, generally conservative user base, such as Gab, are gaining users as a result of Parler’s removal from major services. Gab has itself faced previous hosting revocations and removal from the Google Play Store due to concerns regarding the spread of hateful content.
