Palo Alto Networks, a leading firm in cybersecurity, revealed on Wednesday its plans to acquire CyberArk, a specialist in identity management and security, for a substantial $25 billion. This transaction, involving both cash and company stock, signifies Palo Alto’s strategic expansion into the critical area of identity security, as detailed in an official company statement.
Aggressive Acquisition Strategy
Since Nikesh Arora assumed the roles of CEO and chairman in 2018, Palo Alto Networks has been actively pursuing acquisitions. Reports from the Financial Times indicate that the company has invested over $7 billion in acquiring other businesses during Arora’s tenure.
The planned acquisition of CyberArk represents the most significant investment made by Palo Alto to date.

Palo Alto Networks has demonstrated a consistent pattern of strategic acquisitions. Notable examples include:
- Dig Security, acquired in October 2023 for an approximate $400 million.
- Talon Cyber Security, acquired in November 2023 for an estimated $625 million.

This deal is among the most substantial cybersecurity transactions recorded in 2025 so far. It is surpassed only by Google’s acquisition of Wiz in March, which was valued at $32 billion.
